Kontakt focuses its work on the following areas:

Promoting cultural infrastructure and cooperation
One of our most important concerns is the promotion of art and culture in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. To be precise, we help to enable a multifaceted thriving cultural life in the region and promote the development of a lively young scence reaching across national borders. 

Shaping socially responsible transformation processes
We would like to contribute to shaping a socially responsible transformation process in the societies of Central and Eastern Europe. For this purpose, we support civil society networks and social self-organisation in the region.

Supporting education and research
We advocate the promotion and further development of education and research in Central and Eastern Europe. For this purpose, we implement projects which enable the exchange of ideas and know-how among teachers and students across national borders. 

Enabling independent creative strategies
We would like to help the people in Central and Eastern Europe work independently in the production of art. For this purpose, we support art projects which deal with developments in art and society and create new perspectives and strategies.

Kontakt. The Collection of Erste Bank Group
The art collection of Erste Bank Group presented at MUMOK Vienna and in Bratislava in spring 2006 is part of Kontakt. This first public presentation of numerous works of art from Central and Eastern Europe is a specific result of the work of Kontakt.
