A versatile centre for dance and performance, Tanzquartier Wien – based at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier – sees itself as a workshop, studio and communicative interface for artists from Austria and Central Europe. As part of “Kontakt – The Arts and Civil Society Program of Erste Bank Group”, Erste Bank will be supporting Tanzquartier Wien (TQW) during the entire season of 2007/2008.

For the fourth time, Erste Bank is acting as VIENNALE’s main sponsor this year. The bank’s commitment to Austria’s biggest international film festival is part of “Kontakt – The Arts and Civil Society Program of Erste Bank Group”. As a special treat, the cinema-goers will receive a fancy “Kontakt”-wallet this year.

Mit Drago Jančar erhält 2007 der wohl bedeutendste slowenische Gegenwartsautor den Jean Améry-Preis für Essayistik. Unterstützt wird der Preis, der im Zweijahresrhythmus verliehen wird, seit heuer von „Kontakt. Das Programm für Kunst und Zivilgesellschaft der Erste Bank-Gruppe“. Am 16. November 2007 fand in der Erste Bank-Lounge am Wiener Petersplatz ein Festakt zu Ehren des Autors statt, bei dem unter anderem Autorenkollege und Mitinitiator Robert Menasse und, für die Erste Bank, Christine Böhler als Laudatoren auftraten. Im Publikum fanden sich unter anderem der slowenische Botschafter Ernest Petric und der frühere Preisträger Doron Rabinovici.

For the second year, Erste Bank will award the “Kontakt. Fashion Award by Erste Bank” to a designer from Central and Eastern Europe. This year’s winner is Slobodan Mihajlovic from Serbia. Erste Bank and Unit F, who organises the Viennese festival, are connected by a long-running cooperation.

For the third time, Erste Bank is supporting VIENNAFAIR, Austria’s only trade fair for contemporary art from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The bank’s involvement in the fair is part of its program “Kontakt – The Arts and Civil Society Program of Erste Bank Group”. One of the aims of this initiative is to strengthen cultural institutions and artists in Central and Eastern Europe.
