New Art from Poland and Serbia

Artists in Residence Program by KulturKontakt Austria

28 June 2006 - 28 July 2006

Three young and successful artists from Serbia and Poland exhibit works which were created during their three-month stay in Vienna. The Serbian artist Aleksandrija Ajdukovic, who won the Henkel Young Artists Award in 2005, makes use of photography and video to show conscious and coincidental similarities between people in Vienna and their preferences in clothing. Her fellow countryman Petar Mirkovic won the Henkel Art Award in 2005. He works with the traditional medium of charcoal drawing in order to approach apparent realities by means of overstated contrasts between light and shade. In his project “Wonderland”, Rafal Milach from Poland also uses photography to capture what he perceives as the unreal and peculiar world of the duty-free zone called “Excalibur City” on the Austrian-Czech border.
