Slovenska sporitelna Scholarship ProgramThe main objective of the Scholarship Program of Slovenska Sporitelna is to enhance the education and training opportunities at the University of Economics in Bratislava (UEB) by giving priority to economic and managerial specialities with universal value and adequate to the European (world) labour market criteria. The project has the following goals: to guarantee European (world) education/ training to its students through its openness towards and exchanges with various European (world) universities/ business, to improve curricula through staff development by bringing them up-to-date with both teaching methodologies and the knowledge in their own fields with regards to aspects of the globalisation of economic activities, to improve research potential through giving doctoral students and young researchers the opportunity to work in an international environment. The Scholarship Program of SLSP is the first Slovak fund established by a private company which helps talented students of economics to study abroad. The project has developed from the successful cooperation of the UEB (University of Economics Bratislava) with other universities/ institutions from the European Union countries. Effective cooperation stimulates partners to further improve students´ position on job-market. Moreover, the training of young teachers and researchers at foreign universities/ institutions enhances their teaching capability and research potential. Last but not least, the project is a good example of a great effort to contribute to the process of the integration of the Slovak Republic into European and transatlantic structures. Study stay The study stay is aimed at providing students with the financial, managerial, intellectual and information resources to increase both the quality of their education and their employability on the national as well as the transnational level. Furthermore students have the opportunity to cope with a new cultural and social environment – they not only learn to improve their language skills but also get used to understanding a different culture. Practical placement The practical placement in international companies and institutions will give students the opportunity to be familiarised with principles of management of multinational institutions and companies. Erste Bank Group Focus on Economic Studies in Central Europe Given its tradition and corporate culture as a responsible member of the business community in the countries it operates in, Erste Bank Group has a strong focus in the support of economic studies in Central Europe. Not only is Slovenska sporitelna cooperating with the UEB, but also Česká spořitelna is the general partner of the University of Economics in Prague, and Erste Bank in Vienna is one of the main partners of the University of Economics in Vienna. As a consequence of these partnerships, several common projects with a central European dimension are under way (see Summer Univesity Danubia; Days of Central and Eastern European Competence at WU Vienna, Erste Bank Award for Research in Central Europe).
